Creating your own stories can be done several ways.
You can either cut out patterns and color them or
you can use pictures from old books or magazines.
They can also be purchased from Betty Lukens,
Little Folks Visuals or Child Evangelism Fellowship.
You can also pull them out of that dusty old box
in the closet or store room and clean them up to use
once again. If you are making your own from patterns
don't use too heavy a paper or you will have trouble
getting it to hang on the board. When painting your
patterns always use bright colors whenever possible
as they are easier to see at a distance.
Since
flocked paper is impossible to find any longer
you can affix your patterns or pictures to felt strips
in order to get them to stay on the board. Another
way is to spray the back side of the pattern or
picture with a spray adhesive like 3M #77 and
allow it to dry, they will then stick to the felt.
It is very important to let the adhesive totally
dry or they will stick permanently. Good old
fashioned scotch tape also works. If you can find
them at your local craft or school supply store,
Velcro dots or felt tape work very well. I have
even seen people use a medium grit sandpaper
to hold their figure on the board.
I will be posting patterns on this site that you
can
download and use as well. If you have any you would
like to share please forward them and I will post them
for others to use as well.
