"Our Life"
John 1:1-18 (ESV)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and
the Word was God. [2] He was in the beginning with God. [3] All
things were made through him, and without him was not any thing
made that was made. [4] In him was life, and the life was the light
of men. [5] The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has
not overcome it. [6] There was a man sent from God, whose name
was John. [7] He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light,
that all might believe through him. [8] He was not the light, but
came to bear witness about the light. [9] The true light, which
enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. [10] He was in the
world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not
know him. [11] He came to his own, and his own people did not receive
him. [12] But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he
gave the right to become children of God. [13] who were born, not of
blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
[14] And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have
seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace
and truth. [15] ( John bore witness about him, and cried out, "This was
he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me ranks before me, because he
was before me.' ") [16] And from his fullness we have all received, grace
upon grace. [17] For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth
came through Jesus Christ. [18] No one has ever seen God; the only God,
who is at the Father's side, he has made him known.
Col. 3:1-17 (ESV)
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above,
where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. [2] Set your minds on
things that are above, not on things that are on earth. [3] For you have
died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. [4] When Christ who is
your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. [5] Put to
death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity,
passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. [6] On account
of these the wrath of God is coming. [7] In these you too once walked, when
you were living in them. [8] But now you must put them all away: anger,
wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. [9] Do not lie
to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices
[10] and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge
after the image of its creator. [11] Here there is not Greek and Jew,
circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but
Christ is all, and in all. [12] Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy
and
beloved, compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,
[13] bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another,
forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
[14] And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in
perfect harmony. [15] And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to
which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. [16] Let the
word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another
in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness
in your hearts to God. [17] And whatever you do, in word or deed, do
everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father
through him.
